Siberian Husky (medium coat) : : Female : : Young : : Medium
SSR is pleased to announce that we are partnering with Nash Correctional Institution and are proudly participating in their 'A New Leash On Life' prison training program. Willow is one of our foster dogs that completed training and she graduated in November 2009. During her time at Nash, Willow learned sit, shake with both paws and down. She had fun with the agility course, which includes walking the bench, climbing an A-Frame, jumping through a tire, placing on a pedestal and then doing her sit, shakes and down. Sex: Female Approx. DOB: May 2007 Weight: Approx. 50 lbs. Coat Color: Gray and White Eye Color: Blue Energy Level: Medium, to high. Willow is very laid back outside but does kick up her heals and run and play with the other dogs in her foster home. She keeps moving inside and will follow your every step to be sure you don't need her help with something. Personality: Willow is a very happy girl and loves her people. She is very curious and investigates everything while she's inside. She really never stops. Willow is sweet and full of kisses but also won't hesitate to walk between your legs if your moving too slow for her and she needs to get by! She hasn't shown much interest in toys but she's too busy with other activities in the house. She does do some counter surfing, especially when she comes in from outside. Good with Dogs: Yes. She has never met a stranger. Good with Cats: Not tested yet but probably not as Siberians are notorious for their high prey drive and typically kill cats, rabbits, birds, squirrels, opossums, etc. Good with Children: Siberians are typically good with children of all ages and the only reason we would not list them as not good with kids is because they may be too energetic and bouncy and knock over a toddler. Right now, Willow may fall into that category. She does do some jumping on people but we are working on that with her. Housetrained: Yes. Crate Trained: Willow does well in a crate but does get vocal when she's ready to come out. She has had some accidents in her crate but she's doing much better with that as well. She really doesn't want to go into a crate because there is too much to do and investigate outside of it! Rides Well in Car: Yes Leash Trained: Willow is doing much better on leash but does still pull. Willow did test positive for heartworms and completed her heartworm treatment in August 2009. All Southern Siberian Rescue foster dogs are microchipped, up to date on shots, spay/neutered and on monthly heartworm preventative.
