About Scarlett-Referral

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • Housetrained: Yes

I adopted Scarlett from the York County Animal Shelter and at that time they warned me that she was very afraid of men. I felt all she needed was some love and she would adjust to me. I have worked with her through my vet and Pets R Us to try and find a method to get her to trust me and be my friend. I am now convinced that whatever was done to her will not be forgotten. I have had her now for two plus years and she is still terrified of me. Scarlett’s response to children and females is the complete opposite. She is loving and seeks affection from females and will make a great companion to a female owner. When she is with my daughter and grandchildren (10yrs and 6yrs), she has a great time. They brush her and run in the yard whit her and just enjoys being a dog like she should. If she sees me she will go to the end of her run and stay there. Scarlett was so unsettled from staying in the house with me that my vet suggested we make her an outside dog to give her some peace. That is not the life I want for her. She will chew up toys you give her and howl if you are late to feed her and has done some digging but not a lot.

Scarlett is a wonderful dog that just needs a female owner. She is a red and white female with blue eyes and weighs about 55 lbs. He guestimated DOB is January 2004. She is current on shots, spayed, microchipped and on monthly heartworm preventative.
