Siberian Husky (medium coat) : : Male : : Young : : Medium
SSR is pleased to announce that we are partnering with Nash Correctional Institution and are proudly participating in their 'A New Leash On Life' prison training program. Tanner is one of our foster dogs that completed training and he graduated on June 2, 2008. During his time at Nash, Tanner learned sit, shake with both paws, down and rollover. He had fun with the agility course, which includes walking the bench, climbing an A-Frame, jumping through a tire, placing on a pedestal and then doing his sit, shakes and down.
Sex: Male Approx. DOB: January 2007 Weight: Approx. 55 lbs. Coat Color: White Eye Color: Bi-Eyed, 1 Brown and 1 Blue Energy Level: Medium. Tanner does enjoy good play with his foster siblings but settles down beautifully. He's all about a good run, back-packing and hiking. Personality: Tanner is a velcro dog that literally melts in your hand when you pet him. He's a leaner as well and the minute you pet him, he slides to the floor belly up for rubs. He's at your side in case you need his help and loves to be where you are. He also has the most wonderful howl and woo woo. Tanner does great with the other dogs in his Foster Home. If he's not playing, you can find him posing on the love seat looking extremely sweet and innocent, chewing on Nylabones, which he loves. Tanner is just a joy and has a great smile. He's always happy. Given the choice, Tanner will take human attention over doggie play so he will do well as an only dog with all the attention or another companion to romp with. Good with Dogs: Yes and is quite a hit with the Ladies in his foster home. Tanner plays great with both males and females. Good with Cats: Not tested but probably not as Siberians are notorious for their high prey drive and typically kill cats, rabbits, birds, squirrels, opossums, etc. Good with Children: Siberians are typically good with children of all ages and the only reason we would not list them as not good with kids is because they may be too energetic and bouncy and knock over a toddler. Housetrained: Yes Crate Trained: Yes but he is not crated in his foster home because he is houstrained. He does have a tendency to chew on wood things in his foster home however. Rides Well in Car: Yes Leash Trained: Does pretty well on leash with not much pulling Basic Obedience: Tanner does know sit and is very well mannered. All Southern Siberian Rescue foster dogs are microchipped, up to date on shots, spay/neutered and on monthly heartworm preventative.
