Siberian Husky (medium coat) : : Female : : Young : : Medium
Name: Yana
Sex: Female Approx. DOB: April 2006 Weight: Approx. 37 lbs. Coat Color: Gray and White Eye Color: Blue Energy Level: Yana is about the laziest Siberian I have had the pleasure of fostering. She is very laid back and calm until dinnertime and then she is a little spitfire. She truly loves her dinner and gets very excited for it. She does not play a lot with the other dogs in her foster home but when she does, she plays hard and for short periods of time. Typically, she finds a spot in the house or the back yard and observes the activity of her foster home. Personality: Yana is simply a hoot. She is one of those dogs that you don’t know is in the house. She is very sweet but not a dog that will follow you everywhere or give kisses and be in your face all the time. She loves pets and loving but a lot of times it’s on her terms. She goes in spurts where she play-bows and is very silly and goofy and will boot scoot around the house but mostly she just enjoys her time hanging out. She will be a great companion to a more laid-back family. She has never challenged her foster homes fence by trying to dig out but loves to dig holes in the back yard on occasion. Her foster home is hotwired though. When she’s outside, she enjoys sunning in the back yard, curled up in a hole! Yana came to us with a torn ACL and we have done the surgery to fix that. She has healed beautifully but because of that, she will probably not be a good candidate as a running or hiking partner. Good with Dogs: Yes but will do great as an only dog with all the attention placed on her. Good with Cats: Not tested yet but Yana does display a pretty high prey drive so she is not considered a good fit for a home with cats or other small things that move. Good with Children: Siberians are typically good with children of all ages and the only reason we would not list them as not good with kids is because they may be too energetic and bouncy and knock over a toddler. Yana does not fit that profile but she did come to us with some food aggression and most likely will need to be worked with on that in her new home so for that reason, we would prefer she go to a home with older children. Housetrained: Yes Crate Trained: Yes but she is not currently crated in her foster home. She does enjoy going into an open crate for a nap and some quiet time however. Rides Well in Car: Yes Leash Trained: Does pretty well on leash with not much pulling Basic Obedience: Yana knows sit and has great house manners. She does not inappropriately chew on things in the house, nor does she counter surf or have any other undesired behaviors.
